Photovoltaic (PV) is a semiconductor technology that uses the sun’s energy to convert daylight into electricity. The electricity can then be consumed by the home, which in turn reduces dependency on your energy supplier. If the Solar PV Panel System produces more energy than a home requires, the excess energy can charge a battery, heat your hot water via an immersion heater & or charge an electric vehicle (EV). PV solar should not be confused with Thermal Solar that only heats your hot water. To sum up PV Solar is basically free electricity

Very few that we can think of !!!
This will depend on the size of the system you install & the cost you pay for electricity. We try to achieve at least a 50% reduction in our designs & some system could have a Return on Investment (ROI) of 4 to 5 years. After the ROI period, you could be making money for the next circa 25 + years
This will depend on the amount of electricity you consume & the available roof space you have. We will always analysis your bills to make sure we design a system around your actual needs & hence not over sell you a system that is too big. We always future proof our designs to allow for additional panels & or battery storage where applicable, to be installed at a later date should you circumstances change
A Renewables Ireland system will typically consist of the following components (No’s & Sizes will vary):
The vast majority of roofs are suitable for a Renewables Ireland Solar PV System, once they are in good condition. We can install panels on any roof structure. During our on-site survey, we would discuss all aspects in relation to your specific roof.
There are various grants available to both domestic & business users. The SEAI home grant is €800 per kW up to a maximum of 2 kW, then €250 per KW up to a maximum of 4KW. So the maximum domestic grant available is €2,100 for a 4KWp system. We have detailed information on SEAI grants available here.
Typical installs take between 1 to 2 days. The external panels / roof install & internal inverter / battery works are generally carried out simultaneously. This is then followed on by final commissioning, demonstration & training of how to use & monitor the whole system.
As of October 2021, the planning laws have changed whereby you don’t need planning unless you live in an air traffic control zoned area.
Solar power that is generated has to be consumed immediately, otherwise it will be exported to the grid. Using a battery to store excess generated electricity until it is required later is a great way to avoid grid export. Batteries can also be used for Time of Use (TOU) grid charging using cheap off-peak tariffs to release stored power during the day when tariffs are much higher. This is particularly useful in the winter months.
The solar panels are generally self-cleaning with rainwater.
Renewable Ireland systems come with a 2-year installation warranty. The solar panels carry a 12 to 25 year manufacturer’s warranty and a 20 to 30 year linear performance warranty (This depends on the chosen panels). Inverter and Battery both come with a 10-year warranty
We can advise on various finance option available from standard instalment cost lease agreements through to Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) where you only pay for the electricity generated over a fixed period of between 10-25 years.
We take a very holistic approach, to Solar Panel Installation from initial contact, to design through to installation & commissioning. We are ‘Big enough to get the job done, while also being small enough to care’
